Colostomy irrigation uses a group of supplies designed to introduce water through the stoma and collect output during the irrigation routine. Common supplies include an irrigation bag or irrigator with tubing and a flow regulator, a stoma cone, an irrigation sleeve, and a tail closure or clip.
Depending on the irrigation system, other supplies may include an ostomy belt, irrigation faceplate or adapter, water-soluble lubricant, cleaning supplies, or a stoma cap or pouch used after irrigation. Product specifications and healthcare guidance should be reviewed carefully to confirm that the components are compatible with the customer’s colostomy and pouching system.
