A one-piece stoma cap has the cap and adhesive skin barrier combined into one unit, while a two-piece stoma cap attaches to a separate compatible wafer or flange. Both styles are small, low-profile ostomy products used to cover a stoma when only minimal output is expected.
With a one-piece stoma cap, the cap and skin barrier are removed together. With a two-piece stoma cap, the cap may be removed or changed separately from the wafer depending on the product design. Product specifications should be reviewed carefully to confirm opening size, filter, absorbent pad, wafer or flange compatibility, coupling style, ostomy type, output level, and intended wear time.
