Stoma paste is used to help fill gaps, creases, folds, or uneven skin contours around the stoma to support the seal of an ostomy pouching system. It works with the wafer or skin barrier to help improve the fit between the skin and the pouching system.
Stoma paste may help reduce small spaces where leakage can occur and may be applied near the stoma opening, directly on the skin, or onto the wafer depending on the product instructions. Formulations can vary by consistency, texture, alcohol content, sting-free design, tube or strip format, adhesive properties, and compatibility with one-piece or two-piece ostomy systems, so product specifications and healthcare guidance should be reviewed carefully before ordering or use.
