A one-piece ostomy bag has the pouch and wafer or skin barrier combined into a single unit, while a two-piece ostomy bag uses a separate pouch and wafer that attach together. Both systems are used to collect output from a stoma as part of an ostomy pouching system.
In a one-piece ostomy system, the pouch and skin barrier are removed together. In a two-piece ostomy system, the pouch may be changed separately from the wafer depending on the product design. Product details should be reviewed carefully to confirm pouch type, wafer or barrier compatibility, flange or coupling size, opening size, convexity, closure type, filter, and accessory compatibility before ordering.
