A condom catheter fits over the penis to collect urine outside the body, while a Foley catheter is inserted into the bladder for continuous urine drainage. The main difference is that a condom catheter is external, while a Foley catheter is an indwelling internal catheter.
Condom catheters are typically connected to a drainage bag or urine collection system. Foley catheters remain in place inside the bladder and use a retention balloon as part of the catheter design.
