Intermittent and indwelling (Foley) catheters differ in how they are used and how long they remain in place. Intermittent catheters are inserted temporarily to drain the bladder and then removed, while Foley catheters stay in place for continuous drainage.
External catheters provide another option and are worn outside the body to collect urine rather than being inserted. The appropriate type depends on individual needs and product selection.
